We are excited to introduce RSS3 Beta Mainnet. This latest release marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to building a robust, decentralized Open Information network. Some metrics of the dual layer Network include RSS3 Value Sublayer (VSL) TVL currently sitting at ~556M+ $RSS3, VSL transactions at 3.9M+, and 2B+ queries have been processed by RSS3 Data Sublayer (DSL).

RSS3 Beta Node

With the introduction of the Beta Mainnet, we also unveil the RSS3 Beta Nodes, the Public Good Nodes, that is fully open-source at https://github.com/RSS3-Network/Node. All rewards accrued by a Public Good Node will be distributed to a Public Good Pool for supporting independent builders that is contributing to a more open and interconnected digital future where public information benefits all instead of a selected few.

Becoming a Beta Node Operator

Deployment of the RSS3 Beta Node is permissionless, allowing anyone to participate by registering at https://explorer.rss3.io/. The Explorer offers an intuitive interface to generate your Node’s configuration file, and a script to automate the entire deployment process. The Beta Node deployment process is also detailed at https://docs.rss3.io/guide/operator/deployment.

Our intern has also prepared a video walkthrough here: https://x.com/RSS3Intern/status/1797626087213871266.

Beta Nodes must operate in Public Good Mode. No $RSS3 deposit is required.

These nodes, known as Public Good Nodes (PGNs), play a crucial role in the RSS3 Network by supporting public goods provision. It is important to note that PGNs do not receive $RSS3 tokens, whether through Request Fees or Network Rewards.

For more information on PGN, please refer to our Whitepaper (https://github.com/RSS3-Network/Whitepaper).

To Delegators

Instead of staking, you can entrust $RSS3 to a Beta Node. These tokens will be securely locked in a Public Good Pool (PGP), which belongs to no individual Node but is collectively managed as a single Pool. The calculation of Network Rewards is different for PGP, with the tax rate being the average of all Nodes operating on the RSS3 Network. The tax collected will be donated to the Open Initiative Grant and used for public good and Open Information causes.

For more information on PGP, please refer to our Whitepaper (https://github.com/RSS3-Network/Whitepaper).

To Developers

We are preparing to sunset all previous versions of the RSS3 Network Data Sublayer (DSL). These versions will be replaced by the decentralized infrastructure of the Beta Mainnet, supported by PGNs during Beta Mainnet.

As these new nodes begin operations, they will require a few days to index open information and reach full operational readiness, matching the coverage of previous versions. We will announce the migration details and sunset date for previous DSL versions once the new Beta Nodes have fully caught up.

Conclusion

The Beta Mainnet marks another milestone for the RSS3 Network, representing a giant leap towards to a fully decentralized Open Information network. We appreciate your continued support and participation in this exciting journey.
